Son of an Orthodox rabbi, Mark was kicked out of numerous yeshivas in England and Israel for homosexual activity and had abandoned Orthodoxy. He is followed on his return to the yeshiva world and his re-embrace of the Orthdox practice he missed and loved.

Israel takes on a healing and preaching role in the "Big Knish Tours" he leads through Brooklyn's Hasidic neighborhoods of Boro Park and Williamsburg to help him come to terms with his flight from a difficult childhood there. He has not see his father for over twenty years.

"Malka" and "Leah," who became high-school sweethearts in Brooklyn's Bais Yaakov, an ultra-Orthodox girl's school. They will soon be celebrating their 12th anniversary.

The film also interviews a number of ultra-Orthodox and modern Orthodox rabbis in Israel, New York, and Los Angeles - including the first openly gay Orthodox rabbi, Rabbi Steve Greenberg. Rabbi Greenberg is finishing a book Of Wrestling with God and Men.

Shlomo Ashkinazy, psychotherapist. Shlomo has run a confidential support group for Orthodox gay men for over 15 years.
